Clockwork Prince by Cassandra CLare

As many people know that is a second book in the series so that means that I have no idea what it is about. But it was the only one I was missing.

They Both Die At The End by Adam Silvera

I have never read an Adam Silver book before but when I heard about ‘They Both Die At The End’ on BookTube I was very interested. So this book is set in the future where on the day that your going to die a company calls you and tells you that today is your last day. At that point you can go on an app, The Last Friend app if I recall correctly, and meet up with someone else who is living their last day. If you couldn’t guess in this book our main character is living his last day. That’s about all I know.

A Series of Unfortunate Events books 1-4 Netflix Tie In Box Set by Lemony Snicket

If you don’t know I love this series. It was the series that really got me into reading. When Netflix made this into a show I was super excited and ended up really liking it. So I told myself that in my Accounting Fundimentals 1 course if I got an ‘A’ I would be allowed to buy this box set. Clearly I got an ‘A’.

Oryx and Drake by Margaret Atwood

I first read this book for my Grade 12 Honors English (like AP English) class. This is a dystopian novel where our main character calls himself Snowman. Though out the novel we have flashbacks starting from when Snowman was a child all the way up to why the world is the way it is. We also see Snowman trying to survive in this new world. I know this doesn’t tell you a lot about the book but the less you know the better. This the only book that’s a love hate for me. I was loving it to a certain point then something happens and I was not at all happy about it. After reading this book I understand why some of my other teachers called this a ‘Stick Your Head In An Oven’ book because I was so upset by this book.

My True Love Gave To Me by Stephanie Perkins

I got this book for two reasons. One it looks like a cute holiday read. Two its an anthology and lots of the authors are very popular authors so I thought that this would be a good way to see if I like the writing style of these authors.

The Odyssey by Homer

I already have the Iliad but didn’t want to start to read it till I had the Odyssey. Now I can.

All The Light We Cannot See by Anthoney Doerr

This is another book I first heard of on BookTube. So when I was at the used bookstore and seen this I just had to pick it up. This is actually about two different characters. The first is Marie- Lauren when is living in Paris when the Nazis occupy Paris. Her father and her end up having to flee to her Uncle’s house by the sea. The second character is Werner Pfennig who lives in Germany and is enlisted into the Nazis because he is a sort of expert at fixing electronics. We end up getting to see what happens when these two meet. I haven’t actually read many books that take place during WWII which is something that I want to change.

The Inkheart Trilogy by Cornelia Funke

This is a series that I heard of when I was younger but never read. I did see the movie for Inkheart and really liked it but it has also been years since I seen it.

Dragon Rider by Cornelia Funke

If we are being honest this is a complete cover buy. I seen this at the used bookstore beside Inkheart and thought it was really pretty.

Complicated Us by Ashlyn, Raju Jana, and Khushboo Rani Mahato

I am super excited to say that I was contacted by Khushboo Rani Mahato to review this book. Obviously I said that I would. I have actually already read this and really liked it. There are some grammatical errors so if that’s something that annoys you I wouldn’t suggest it. In this book we follow Ashwin and Khushi. We get to see how their relationship grows and they face challenges that many young couples face. Honestly this is very much an emotional rollercoaster. If you are interested you can find this on Amazon.

So that’s it! Going forward I’m hoping to try to get my TBR bookshelf (yes I have a whole bookshelf of books that I have to read) down because right now I have almost no space left. Other then that if there are any topics you would be interested in let me know! Besides that I hope you are all having an amazing day!

Total Books Bought: 4

There’s Someone In Your House by Stephanie Perkins

Back in the summer I wanted to read the Anna and the French Kiss series but now that its fall it didn’t feel like the right time of the year. So when I heard that Stephanie and Perkins had written a thriller I just had to pick it up while I was at Coles Bookstore. Apparently this is suppose to be like a teen slasher book and that makes me think of Scream Queens which I absolutely love.

Vampire Knight Memories Volume 1 by Matsuri Hino

I was so excited that I found this book when my Grandma and I went to Coles Bookstore. A disclaimer is that you have to read Vampire Knight Volumes 1-19 before reading this because it is a spin off. All I’m going to say  is that I’m team Zero 100% and have been since I first watched the anime and am even more so after reading the magna. Also thank you to my Grandma for buying this book for me. Love you.

The Secret Keepers by Trenton Lee Stewart

This was a complete cover buy. Well kind of. The cover caught my eye and then I read the back and it sounded interesting. What I can tell about this is its about a boy named Reuben who finds an antique watch which ends up setting him on an adventure. There are a ton of secrets revealed and its a race against time to defeat a villain called The Smoke and save city from a terrible fate. There are also illustrations throughout the book which I love and think it adds to story.

Another Omnibus by Yukito Ayatsuji

I bought this as a last book to read before Halloween. I have watched the anime but that was about four years ago which is crazy to think about. The edition I have is actually a bind up of all four volumes so its really thick. This is a very gory series, fair warning. This is about Koichi Sakakaibara who transferred to a new school and is put into Third Year Class Three. On his first day he notices that something about the class seems off. A string of murders end up taking place because of a curse on Class 3-3. Can the students figure out how to stop it before its too late?

Vampire Knight Volumes 2- 19 by Matsui Hino

If you have seen my book haul from July you will know that I have the first volume of Vampire Knight. I know it won’t take me a long time to read the books so I wanted to get all of them so I can marathon them and also because I hate having uncompleted series.

Healing Crystals by Michael Gienger

My grandma actually got me this book because she knows that I’m interested in crystals.

Cat About Town by Cate Conte

So the reason why I got this book was because of the spine of the book. Why you might ask? Well the cat on the spine and the cover look like my cat Sterling.

I have a small announcement to make and that’s that till 2018 I am putting myself on a book buying ban. So the only times I will be doing a book haul is if I get books as a gift like my birthday or Christmas.

July 2017 Book Haul

20615207_10214253869689195_1822542890_o

So again like last month I went a little overboard with buying books. This month I ended up buying twenty books. That right, twenty! Lets get on with the list!

20561678_10214253869289185_629336486_n

Pretty Little Secrets, Wicked, Killer, Heartless, Wanted, Twisted, Ruthless, Stunning, Burned, Crushed, Deadly, Toxic, and Vicious by Sara Shepard

If you have been keeping up with my blog then you will know that I am marathoning the Pretty Little Liars series. To do that I needed to get all the books so here is the majority of the books I bought this month.

The Bane Chronicle by Cassandra Clare

I realized that this was missing from my shodowhunter book collection. Therefore, I had to get it. Also because it was such a good deal on Bookoutlet and I had a coupon code from ordering all the Sara Shepard books I just couldn’t resist.

Go Set A Watchman by Harper Lee

If you don’t know this is the sequel to Harper Lee’s classic “To Kill A Mockingbird”. I have been meaning to re-read To Kill A Mockingbird and I’ve been wanting to read Go Set A Watchman so why not read one after another?

Vampire Knight Volume One by Matsui Hino

This was more of an impulse buy if we are being honest. I have been wanting to start reading some manga and originally I wanted to start with Naruto. However, when I was at Coles they had a promotion going on that when you buy five books you get ten dollars worth of points and I that’s all they had to say to convince me to buy five books. It was easy finding the first four book I was having a hard time picking a fifth. So I decided to see what they had for magna. Well they didn’t have the first Naruto book but they had Vampire Knight Volume One! Its also worth mentioning that I have watched the anime series a couple of times.

The Amber Spyglass by Philip Pullman

Recently I have heard a lot about Philip Pullman recently from booktubers which sparked my interests. But I actually was given this book from them the local used bookstore keeper. So thank you Joe!

20527585_10214253868449164_1329033137_n

Dracula by Bram Stoker

The most classic vampire book followed only by Anne Rice’s books. I think everyone knows what Dracula is about.

Frankenstein by Mary Shelly

Again another classic monster book and I think anyone who is interested in monster books and movies knows about Frankenstein. There is also a movie, well many movies but also a more recent movie, that is based on this book call Victor Frankenstein.

The Iliad by Homer

Now we are talking about some really old literature here. Apparently this was written in 762 BC, within 50 years. So it is super old. As I have said in the past I want to expand the nationality of classic authors to more then just English, French, Canadian, and American because all the over types of books I’ve read are from a wide range of authors.  If you don’t know the Iliad is about the Trojan War, which I don’t know a whole lot about even though I love history.

*Sorry for not the best image quality*

A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini

I have read this book before and loved it as much as I loved Khaled Hosseini’s first book The Kite Runner. However, unlike The Kite Runner this book fallows the life of two women whose lives intertwine during the political change and violence that the change brings for all of those, including the two women, who live in Afghanistan. This book shows a side of life in Afghanistan you wouldn’t really expect to see since the East doesn’t have the best image shown to us in the West. That being said I do believe that Khaled Hosseini’s books are a must read for every one in the West.

And The Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini

I know next to nothing about this book. Its Khaled Hosseini’s third book and because of that I had to get it since I own and love the other two. I have been told that it is a great book though.

The Hunchback of Norte Dame by Victor Hugo

We all know the Disney movie of the same name is a classic. With that being said apparently the book is way different. So why not read the classic book and see if it is true.

Les Miserables by Victor Hugo

Yes like the two hour and forty minute musical and that was the selling point for me (since I love the 2012 movie). From looking through this massive book we fallow multiple people, the book is divided into five parts for each persons perspective. Other then that I also know that Napoleon and the Battle of Waterloo and the July Revolution have something to do with this book.

13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher

Obviously this is book that the Netflix show “13 Reasons Why” is based on because of this the book has recently became very popular again by both fans of the show and the critics. Personally I really liked the show for a great many reasons which I won’t get into here. Again with a lot of the books on this list I have heard that the book is different from the show. So I just have to find out for myself.

Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy

I want to expand the classic authors I’ve read and being Canadian I’ve read mostly English and French authors. Tolstoy is a classic Russian author and I’ve heard nothing but good things about his books. Aside from all the love the book gets what I know about this book is its about Anna Karenina, obviously, and how her life falls apart.

The Lost Symbol Illustrated Edition by Dan Brown

As I have said before I am a huge fan of the Robert Langdon Series. I could not resist buying this book! I have Angles and Demons and The Da Vinci Code in the illustrated editions so of course I had to get this edition of The Lost Symbol and am planning to get the illustrated edition of Inferno when it comes out. Fun fact this is the only book series I have multiple copies of the books.

The Shadowhunter Codex by Cassandra Clare and Joshua Lewis

I read the Mortal Instruments Series years ago before it was a completely finished series and I loved the books. So why not have the textbook that goes along with the series.

Lord of Shadows, Lady Midnight, Clockwork Prince, Clockwork Angle, Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare

I got these books since they are the books I was missing that are by Cassandra Clare. I am also planning on reading the shadowhunter books in order of publication date to avoid any and all spoilers.

Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman’s Search for Everything Across Italy, India, and Indonesia by Elizabeth Gilbert

Before I ever knew that this was a book I watched the movie. And absolutely loved it! For me I always go back to this movie for inspiration to live life to the fullest. That being said I like books way more then movies so if the book is just as good as the movie if not better I’m sure I will love the book.

Wild by Cheryl Strayed

When I first started to see this book in circulation I definitely did not want to read it. However, I ended up watching the movie because of another person and it was really good! So I have to see if the book is as good and if not… Well I guess it will go to the used book store.

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

So the only reason I bought this books is because I love the spin….

Reiki Mastery by David F Vennells

What I haven’t said on here yet is that I actually have my first level of Reiki and am working on my second level and this book is for second level and master level which is perfect for me.

Divergent by Veronica Roth

Probably about a year and a half ago I got Insurgent. Of course I watched the movies when they came out and I enjoyed them. So why not read the books. I don’t plan on reading them till I have the whole series so that I can marathon them.

Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer

I first watched this movie when I was around 14 years old and have recently watched it again (almost eight years later) and still really liked it. I just happened to find this book so why not pick it up.
